New Byki 4.0 Makes Permanent Language Knowledge Available to Millions for Free

Byki software helps users attain permanent knowledge of foreign language words and phrases with new "Intelligent Refresh" system. Byki now available for more than 70 languages.

Nashua, N.H., September 16, 2008 - Transparent Language today announced the release of the 4.0 version of its popular Byki language learning software. Byki includes the new Intelligent Refresh system, which enables users to lock foreign language words and phrases into their permanent memory. Language acquisition research shows that it takes 5-16 encounters before a new word or phrase enters a person's permanent memory.

With Intelligent Refresh, Byki knows exactly how and when to space these encounters. Intelligent Refresh relies on a special proprietary algorithm that remembers the words and phrases the user has already learned and how quickly they were learned, knows how long it's been since those words or phrases were last used, and spaces the prompts to recall them at just the right intervals to maintain a fun and comfortable level of challenge. With Intelligent Refresh, Byki 4.0 is the only language learning solution expressly designed to refresh and maintain the learner's permanent memory.

Michael Quinlan, CEO of Transparent Language, says: "The great thing about Byki 4.0 is that it allows users to concentrate on foreign language learning, rather than on managing their learning process. The addition of Intelligent Refresh now means that anyone can choose their language and truly learn it fast and know it forever. Byki Express 4.0 is available as a free language software download at www.byki.com. Byki Express is a full working version of the software, not a demo, and comes with Intelligent Refresh and a starter set of language content.

Byki Deluxe 4.0 offers substantially more learning content (up to 2,500 words and phrases in many languages) as well as additional features such as games, voice comparison to native speaker sound, testing and tracking features, and the ability for users to create their own learning content. Byki Deluxe 4.0 sells for $69.95 at the Transparent Language online store at www.transparent.com. Byki 4.0 is available in over 70 languages: Afrikaans, Albanian, Altai, Arabic, Armenian, Azerbaijani, Bashkir, Belorussian, Bengali, Bosnian, Bulgarian, Buriat, Castilian Spanish, Chechen, Chinese-Mandarin, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dari, Dutch, English, Estonian, Farsi, Finnish, French, Georgian, German, Greek, Haitian Creole, Hausa, Hebrew, Hindi, Hungarian, Icelandic, Indonesian, Irish, Italian, Japanese, Kazakh, Korean, Latin, Latvian, Lithuanian, Luxembourgish, Macedonian, Malay, Mirandese, Mongolian, Norwegian, Pashto, Polish, Portuguese- Brazilian, Portuguese- European, Romanian, Russian, Scottish Gaelic, Serbian, Slovak, Spanish, Swahili, Swedish, Tagalog, Tajiki, Thai, Turkish, Turkmen, Tuvan, Ukrainian, Urdu, Uzbek, Vietnamese, and Zulu.

Transparent Language, which contracts with hundreds of linguists and native speakers around the world, is continually adding languages to this list regardless of how remote or active the language may be. CEO Michael Quinlan puts it this way: "We live in an age of global interaction. No language is so small that no one needs to learn it. If we could, we would provide software for all 4,000 languages in the world."
