Innovative flash card technology makes learning languages faster, easier, and more fun

Four Simple Steps to Perfect Recall Guaranteed

Nashua, N.H., June 13, 2005 - Transparent Language, a leader in language learning solutions, today announced the latest version of Before You Know It ®, the fast, personalized way to learn a language. Experts agree that words and small phrases are the building blocks of language. The innovative flash card methodology in Before You Know It lets learners see and hear the foreign language, with native speaker pronunciation, and then leads them through the 4 step Perfect Recall learning cycle.

Before You Know It is simple, very user friendly and a powerful learning tool for my students," said Mark Pope, German teacher from Utah.

Before you know it deluxe expands the learning experience

Before You Know It is available in both a "Deluxe" and a more streamlined "Lite" version. Before You Know It Deluxe features more content as well as new activities, including:

  • Multiple Choice - where the user can test themselves on the meaning of words.
  • Pronunciation - users can check their speaking skills with this cutting edge feature.
  • Dictation - users test their knowledge by hearing the word and typing in the meaning.
  • List creation - users can create their own lists and then share them with other learners.
  • Print the Flash Cards - Users can print both the flash cards provided by Transparent Language and the ones they create.
  • Learn on the go - with Before You Know It for Palm and Pocket PC.

Before You Know It revolutionizes the way people learn languages," said Michael Quinlan, president of Transparent Language. "Combining the classic concept of flashcards with intelligent technology speeds the normally tedious process of becoming multilingual."

Free before you know it lite provides learning for everyone

In addition to Before You Know It Deluxe the company also offers a special Before You Know It Lite, free to download on their website www.byki.com. This special Lite version does not include the Deluxe Edition activities but features the 4 step Perfect Recall learning process and over 200 common words and phrases making it a compelling learning tool at an unheard of price.

In addition to the included content users can download additional flash card lists in a number of languages as well as lists to learn other subjects, like Chemistry and Math.

"I'm amazed at the learning technique the software employs. Having only used it for only a few days, I have been able to retain and spout most of what I know," said Zach D. a Before You Know It Lite user.

Perfect recall explained

The four steps of the Perfect Recall learning cycle in Before You Know It monitor the user's responses and constantly adjust to focus on the more challenging vocabulary.

  1. Recognize It - As the user flips through the flash cards they see and hear the foreign language word or phase building their ability to automatically recall the meaning.
  2. Know It - Reinforce the learning by typing in the English meaning.
  3. Produce It - The user now starts generating the foreign language, as they see the English the user thinks of the foreign language.
  4. Own It - Finally type the foreign language when the English is shown.

Once the user has completed all four steps of the program they will have Perfect Recall guaranteed. If they test the material they have studied in Before You Know It and their recall is not 100%, they can return the product for a full refund of the purchase price.

Before You Know It Deluxe and Before You Know It Lite are available for Windows, and Mac OSX, for Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Swedish, Polish, Russian, Arabic, Irish and Latin. Visit www.byki.com or call 603-262-6300 for more information.
