Posted by adir ferreira

Alejandro Javier González Legrand, “Coco Legrand”, is a Chilean comedian and his debut was at the Festival de Viña del Mar in 1972. The festival is known for its very demanding audience, called “El Monstruo” (The Monster). His humor is filled with social criticism towards the people of Chile and his texts always focus on the weaknesses and strenghts of the human being.
Coco Legrand also acted in comedies like Humor al Contado, Ría por la Razón o por la Fuerza, No Vote por Mí , among others. In 1990 he opened his own theater company called Circus ok.

Here’s a video of Coco Legrand in a sketch for Chilean TV:

I came across these videos of a supposedly Mexican telenovela and it cracked me up! It’s called “the Mexican soap opera for people who only had three weeks of Spanish in the fourth grade”. If you know some Spanish you’re going to laugh your head off! Enjoy!

Manolito Gafotas

Have you ever heard of Manolito Gafotas? Manolito is a series of kids’ books written by Spanish author Elvira Lindo. They tell the story of Manolito in the district of Carabanchel, in Madrid. Manolito is a common kid and his stories are written with lots of humor and tenderness. These stories started on the radio, then became books, and were eventually adapted as movies and a TV series. It’s a good read and I highly recommend it. Here’s a link to one of the stories, Manolito tiene un secreto (Manolito has a secret), (http://www.literaturas.com/02infantiljuvenilelviralindo2002.htm), check it out, you won’t regret it! You can also buy his books and DVDs in the USA. Post your comments and tell us what you think!
