Unfortunately, as a teacher of expats in Brazil, I’ve learned the word for another insect, “piolho” or louse.
My last comment may have made it sound like lice are a big problem in Brazil. I don’t think they are worse in Brazil than in the US. They are no fun anywhere.

cicada = cigarra
moth = mariposa (brazilian portuguese), traça (european portuguese)
scarabs = escaravelho
fly = mosca
