O Homem Cueca is a super-hero who appears in the humor sketches (quadros de humor) that bear the same name. Homem Cueca translates as Underpants Man.

Created by Felipe Xavier for the São Paulo radio network Jovem Pan 100,9 FM, o Homem Cueca is sort of a satire of Superman, an anti-hero who appears in times of distress to offer hilarious solutions to already funny situations.

Each sketch starts with a parody of the It’s a bird… it’s a plane… introduction from Superman. A small child asks, “Mama! O quê é aquilo?!” Mama, what’s that?!

Homem Cueca speaks with an exaggerated ‘interior’ accent, most easily identifiable by the pronunciation of the letter ‘R.’

The gíria or slang used in the Homem Cueca skits is very Paulista, and these pieces are a great source of funny São Paulo expressions.
