Be sure to wait for the right moment before asking for personal information as some people might not be comfortable with it. Quantos anos você tem? How old are you?

Você é homem ou mulher? Are you a man or a woman?

I don’t think Você é homem ou mulher? is a first time meeting question. In fact that is something you have to find out with someone else if you have that doubt. LOL
