I loved all suggestions here. That’s exactly what we are doing… we want to gather the Brazilian Restaurants all in one place. The Brazilian Restaurant Guide (free to read/free to post website) was created to show that there is at least one Brazilian Restaurant in each American state.

Fogo de Chão is great (I've been to the one in Chicago several times), but we have recently (2 years ago now) been lucky enough to have an authentic churrascaria open here nearby in Northville, Michigan (a suberb in the greater Detroit metropolitan area) called Gaúcho Brazilian Steakhouse. The food is always excellent and I've gotten to know the owner and a few of the staff... great people who always make me feel at home (in the best Brazilian sense).
When I was in NYC about 3 years ago I went to a VERY small place in Hell's Kitchen called Beans and Rice and had some incredible feijoada.

Of course, I love the churrascarias too but my 2 favorite restaurants to visit are Beetche's Brazilian Cafe and Par's, located just north of Dallas. I have taken many of my Brazilian friend to Beetche's and they always leave happy. It is a buffet style restaurant where you can always get the favorites like pão de queijo, feijoada, farofa e arroz; along with many other great dishes. Par's has a totally different atmosphere. It is a supermarket with a small restaurant inside. The food is great but the people are amazing. I feel like I am visiting my friends in Rio when I go there.

Locally here in San Diego, my high-end favorite is Rei do Gado, a classy churrascaria. If I want a more casual, "comfort food" style, there's a small cafe I love called "Brazil by the Bay" where I really enjoy the estrogonofe de frango, with a coxinha or kibe to start me off!
