France is an awesome country. I love their unique values and culture. I think that whole anti-French thing in America was really dumb. Now I hope that the French give me a chance even though I’m American. (I NEVER asked to be born American !!!! )

I’m not exactly sure what you mean by a hard or soft “G”…it’s pronounced /dZ/; but in any case, you can listen to the pronunciation of ‘le Gers’ by a native French speaker at this link, Alan:

…as a child growing up in Penn., we sang a french song that went something like this…il a ne devine enfant…but that’s all that I can remember, and I’am going back 50 some years…do you know what this song is…?
