Free Word of the Day Service Supports Study of Middle Eastern Languages

Transparent Language Adds Dari, Pashto, and Urdu to Popular Language-Learning Tool

Nashua, N.H., August 31, 2011 - Transparent Language, a leading provider of language-learning solutions for the government, military, education, library, and consumer markets, announced today the addition of three Middle Eastern languages to its Word of the Day service. With the addition of Dari, Pashto, and Urdu, Transparent Language Word of the Day is now available in 20 languages, including Arabic, Chinese, Dutch, Esperanto, French, German, Irish, Italian, Japanese, Latin, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and English for Spanish Speakers.

Transparent Language Word of the Day, which is available for free to all language learners, is designed to make language learning part of learners' daily routines by presenting and teaching proper usage of a new word each day. In addition to providing a sample sentence and audio pronunciation, the service also displays language and culture blog articles. Transparent Language Word of the Day adds a unique twist by providing Twitter search functionality to find social media discussions in which the day's word is being used, allowing learners to see exactly how the word is employed by real, native speakers in everyday life.

"Research has shown that daily exposure to a language can significantly increase a person's success in achieving proficiency", said Michael Quinlan, CEO of Transparent Language. "Making bite-sized chunks of language available wherever users live online helps them make language learning a daily habit."

Language learners may access Transparent Language Word of the Day absolutely free by subscribing through email, RSS feed, Twitter, and Facebook. In addition, blogs and websites can share Word of the Day with their visitors by embedding a free, customizable language widget on their site.
